General
Product shall be in compliance with OSHA
1910.219 ( 1996 ), ASME B15.1 ( 2000 ), and ANSI Z535 (1998 ),
including: - Shall prevent entry of hands, fingers, or other
parts of the body into a point of hazard by reaching through,
over, under, or around the guard, preventing personal injury, or
death. - Shall be stationary in use. - Shall create no
additional motion hazards - Shall be constructed of a substantial
material - Shall be safety orange in color, when a safety color
is used - Shall prevent entry. Gaps shall be no greater than 6mm
( .250” ), based on the the minimum distance - Shall have a
readily visible safety label ( ANSI Z535.4 USA, ISO 3864
International ) - Shall withstand a 113 kg. ( 250 lb.) load -
Shall prevent injury from component breakage ( non-catastrophic
) - Shall provide hinged or sliding covers when lubrication is
required - Shall utilize fasteners requiring hand tools for
removal - Shall be inspected and maintained at intervals of 60
days or less
Product and components shall be suitable for
indoor or outdoor use under the following conditions: -
Temperature range of -40°C to 77°C ( -40°F to 170°F ), up to 200°F
intermittent. - Corrosive environments - Washdown service -
Impact loads
Plastic Material
Shall be High Impact
Polyethylene with the following properties: - Safety orange
color - Matte finish - Brittleness temperature -85° C ( -120°F
) - Maximum continuous service temperature 77° C ( 170°F
)
Guard Halves
Shall be pressure formed from High Impact
Polyethylene plastic incorporating ribs and flanges for strength and
attachment. Molded features shall include cooling vents, Orange Peel
logo, guard size number, trim lines with trimming dimensions and
recycling symbols ( quantity 4, shall be molded into the main body
and all cut off points).
Pedestal
Shall be pressure
formed from High Impact Polyethylene plastic incorporating the guard
size and a recycling mark.
Safety Labels
Each CCG guard
half shall have an ANSI Z535.4 compliant English warning label
attached to a smooth locating area. Optional ISO 3864 compliant
symbol-based safety labels can be supplied for International
requirements. Labels shall have a 2 mil polyester base with 5 mil
clear lamination and a modified acrylic adhesive backing. Labels can
be drilled and mechanically fastened using four stainless steel pop
rivets. Labels shall be suitable for -40°C to 149°C ( - 40°F to
300°F ) temperatures, and chemical, abrasion and fade
resistant.
Clips
Shall be made of A2/304 stainless steel
material and sized to the guard flange mated thickness. User shall
drill the mounting holes using the clip as a
template.
Hinges
Shall be made of A2/304 stainless steel
material. Hinges shall have a captured pin and feature a slotted
hole in the foundation leaf. Two wide body hinges shall be used on
size CCG 10/20 and four hinges shall be used on sizes CCG 30/40/50.
User shall drill the mounting holes using the hinge as a
template.
Fasteners
Shall be made of A2/304 stainless
steel material. Bolts shall be threaded the full length. Nuts shall
have a nylon locking feature. Washers shall be a large diameter,
fender type. 8 fasteners will be used to attach the hinges to the
guard ( 4 per half ). 4 fasteners will be used to attach the hinges
to the foundation ( or optional pedestal ). 4 fasteners will be used
to attach the clips.
