Problem-Solver, Series 3
An
Eastern Kentucky Mining Concern recently invested heavily In a new
coal preparation plant. Knowing well the severe conditions under
which the equipment must operate management decided to purchase
spare conveyor fluid couplings. Six of the conveyors had been furnished
with German made fluid couplings and it was found necessary to purchase
five complete couplings to spare these conveyors.
A Rexnord Distributor listened carefully and made some notes.
Current Problems
The conveyor OEM supplied German-made fluid couplings and the User
would have to purchase five couplings to spare six conveyors.
If the present type of fluid couplings fail the motors (200HP plus)
must be moved and then realigned.
The cost of the German style couplings almost forced the user management
to abandon their spares program.
The True Torque Solution
Using their gear coupling mount, Falk can spare all the conveyors
with a maximum of two fluid couplings.
The Falk design will not require motor or equipment to be moved.
The spares program was saved and costs were reduced 66% by purchasing Falk fluid couplings.
Implementation
The Rexnord Distributor sold one
hollow shaft design (HF31) and one
gear coupling design (HF20) to
spare six conveyors Five of these
conveyors were spared by
supplying extra gear coupling hubs
bored for the different shaft
diameters.
An interchangeability chart was produced for the user to use when a breakdown occurs.
The Net Result was a $20,000 savings.
Let us show how much we can save you.
